Gaurav Chopra, born on 23rd August 1987, carved a niche for himself as a formidable batsman in the cricket world, captivating audiences with his elegant play and unyielding spirit. Growing up in a cricket-obsessed neighbourhood in Mumbai, Gaurav was bitten by the cricket bug early. It didn’t take long for him to outshine his peers in local street matches, his agile footwork and precise timing signalling the emergence of a player with promise.

His formal introduction to cricket came at the tender age of ten, when he joined a local academy. Under the diligent guidance of his coach, he honed his technical prowess, transforming into a reliable right-hand batsman capable of tackling even the fiercest bowlers. His dedication bore fruit when he was selected for the Mumbai Under-19 team, instantly making waves with his prodigious scoring ability.

Gaurav's professional debut came in the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy season, and it was a spectacle to behold. With a debut inning of 135 runs, he announced his entry with authority. He quickly became an integral part of the team, contributing to several Ranji Trophy triumphs for Mumbai, including their much-celebrated victories in 2010 and 2013.
