Roushan Singh's journey from the dusty pitches of Kanpur to the electrifying arenas of international cricket is the stuff of dreams. Born on the dawn of the new millennium, 1st January 2000, he grew up with cricket in his blood, idolising players on the screen while practising tirelessly in the narrow lanes of his neighbourhood. His passion for the game was evident from a young age, often sneaking out to play until dusk painted the sky purple.

Roushan’s journey gathered momentum when, at just 14, he was spotted by a local coach who was astounded by his reflexes behind the stumps. Balancing school and cricket under the watchful eyes of a supportive family, Roushan honed his skills as a wicketkeeper, earning the nickname “The Gloveman” for his lightning-fast stumpings and subtle under-the-glove catches.

He made his professional debut for the Kanpur Strikers in the domestic T20 league, where his adaptability as a batsman stood out. Roushan displayed a fearless approach, tailoring his batting to match the situation—be it anchoring the innings or launching blistering assaults in death overs. Though not traditionally attributed to a wicketkeeper, his versatile bowling came as a pleasant surprise and often provided his team with crucial breakthroughs.

Among his notable feats, Roushan's pivotal role in the Strikers securing the 2021 State Championship remains etched in memory. During the final match, he executed three crucial stumpings and struck an unbeaten 75 runs, guiding his side to a thrilling victory against arch-rivals, the Lucknow Warriors—an encounter that intensified the team's rivalry, immortalising their duel.

But perhaps his finest hour came during the national selectors' tour match, where displaying nerves of steel, he hit a remarkable fifty, coupled with key dismissals, scripting his entry into the national team. This milestone not only fulfilled a personal dream but inspired a legion of young cricketers across his hometown.

Roushan Singh is more than just a name on a scoreboard. His unwavering dedication, coupled with an instinct to adapt, makes him a stalwart of contemporary cricket. Though his career is in its nascent phase, his journey exemplifies the essence of perseverance, and his growing influence on the sport signals that he is a player destined for great things on the global stage.
