Sarah Asmussen's journey to cricketing prominence began under the sunny skies of a small village in Kent, where she was born on the first day of 2001. Cricket was woven into the fabric of her childhood, with her earliest memories being the rhythmic thwack of a ball against the worn wooden bat of her older brother in the back garden. By the age of ten, it was clear to her local club that this young girl had an innate talent with the ball in her hand, setting her on a path that would eventually lead to the international stage.

Sarah's rise through the ranks of county cricket was nothing short of meteoric. A natural bowler, she combined a knack for reading batsmen with tremendous versatility, being able to switch effortlessly between pace and spin, bamboozling opponents with her varied arsenal. Her adaptability extended to batting as well. Although primarily known for her bowling, Sarah adopted an increasingly effective batting technique — a testament to her determination to evolve and adapt to any role her team required.

She made her professional debut at just 19, playing for the Southern Vipers in the Women’s Cricket Super League. It wasn't long before Sarah was a lynchpin in the team's bowling attack, leading them to victory in the league's final season in 2019. Her performance in that tournament caught the attention of the national selectors, and she was soon donning the England jersey.

Throughout her career, Sarah has continually set new benchmarks. The 2022 Ashes series against Australia remains one of her crowning achievements. In a nail-biting final test at the Oval, she delivered a spellbinding performance, picking up a career-best 7 for 43, which swung the match decisively in England’s favour.
