After two successful domestic seasons, he became the top wicket-taker in the 2015-2016 domestic first-class competition.

He ended the 2016-2017 season with a staggering 71 wickets at an average of just 12.74.

On his Test debut, Abbas made an immediate impact, dismissing Kraigg Brathwaite for a duck with only his second ball.
