Virender Sehwag, born on 20th October 1978 in Najafgarh, India, revolutionised Indian cricket with his fearless approach at the crease. From humble beginnings, Sehwag's extraordinary journey began in the backyard of his home, where his love for the game flourished. Encouraged by his family, he played in local tournaments and quickly moved through the ranks, making his first-class debut for Delhi in the 1997-98 season.

Sehwag's entry into the international arena came in April 1999 in an ODI against Pakistan, but it was in August 2001, with his Test debut against South Africa, that he began to carve his niche as a formidable batsman. Known for his right-handed batting style and aggressive approach, Sehwag thrilled fans and confounded bowlers worldwide. He possessed an uncanny ability to dismantle even the most fearsome bowling attacks with ease.

His career is adorned with remarkable achievements. Sehwag was the first Indian to hit a triple century in Test cricket, a feat he accomplished against Pakistan in Multan in 2004, earning the moniker "Sultan of Multan." Not stopping there, he repeated the feat against South Africa in 2008, becoming one of only a few players globally to score two triple centuries in Test cricket. Besides his prowess in Tests, Sehwag was instrumental in India’s 2007 ICC World Twenty20 victory and played a key role in securing the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup trophy for India.

Throughout his career, Sehwag often found himself in high-stakes encounters against arch-rivals Pakistan and Australia. His brutal 195 at the MCG in 2003 remains a highlight, showcasing his ability to dominate some of the world’s best bowlers. His rivalry with Australian greats like Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne became part of cricketing folklore, as he fearlessly took them on with his audacious stroke play.

Sehwag's playing style was characterised by a remarkable hand-eye coordination and a penchant for quick scoring. Primarily a batsman, he occasionally bowled right-arm offbreaks, providing useful breakthroughs which were often overshadowed by his explosive batting exploits.

Virender Sehwag's legacy in cricket is one of innovation, confidence, and unmatched flair. Widely considered one of the most destructive batsmen of his generation, his impact on the game, particularly for Indian cricket, is indelible, inspiring countless youngsters to play with freedom and passion.
