His early years were honed at the famous YMCA College of Physical Education, where coaches were quick to spot his agile glovework and encouraging temperament.

As a wicketkeeper, Vikas's debut was nothing short of transformative for the team that roped him in during the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association's local leagues in the late '90s. It was here his dual talent as a right-handed batsman was cultivated, quickly establishing him as a reliable lower-middle-order contributor.
