S Badrinath

Subramaniam Badrinath, commonly known as Badri, is a highly regarded cricket player hailing from India.
Known for his hunger for runs, Badrinath has solidified his position as a key player in the Tamil Nadu batting lineup since the mid-2000s.
In addition to showcasing his immense talent with the bat, he has also captained his team.

Standing tall at the crease, Badrinath possesses a technically correct batting technique that has brought him considerable success in his career.
He burst onto the national scene during the 2005-06 season, narrowly missing out on being the top run-scorer by just 36 runs to Amol Muzumdar.
In that season, he amassed an impressive total of 636 runs from seven matches at an average of almost 80.
Though his performance in the following season wasn't as outstanding, he still managed to score 436 runs at an average of nearly 50.

Apart from his batting prowess, Badrinath is renowned for his excellent fielding skills.
Whether stationed at point or any other position in the field, he consistently displays exceptional agility and sharpness.
In the early stages of his career, he was primarily considered a grafter, showing great dedication and resilience during an era dominated by stroke-making batsmen.
However, with experience, he expanded his range of shots and became a more versatile batsman.

In 2007, Badrinath showcased his prowess on a bigger stage when he performed exceptionally well during India A's tours to Zimbabwe and Kenya, as well as in the home series against South Africa A.
As a reward for his consistent performances, he was selected in the ODI squad for the latter part of the series against Australia.
Unfortunately, he didn't get a chance to play and was subsequently dropped from the squad for the following series against Pakistan.

Undeterred by the setback, Badrinath continued his impressive form during the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy season, accumulating 659 runs at an impressive average of 65.90.
After being ignored for almost a year, he finally received his opportunity to shine when he was named as Sachin Tendulkar's replacement for the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
In his first appearance, he exhibited his solid technique against spinners, helping India secure a nail-biting victory.

Badrinath's perseverance paid off when he finally earned his Test debut in Nagpur more than a year later, at the age of 29.
Unfortunately, he struggled to maintain consistency and was dropped from the team after a few matches.
However, his exceptional performances in both the Ranji Trophy and the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the following year helped him secure a spot in the ODI squad for the West Indies tour in 2011.

Throughout his career, Badrinath has garnered considerable respect and admiration from fans and fellow cricketers alike.
