Baslow Cricket Club

Welcome to Baslow CC, a friendly and inclusive cricket club situated near the stunning Chatsworth Estate. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, we welcome individuals of all ages and skill levels to join us.

Our club has a rich history and has achieved great success in recent years. In 2018, our 1st XI won Division 5 of the Yorkshire and Derbyshire Cricket League and tied the Junior cup final competition. The following year, we were promoted to Division 3 and ended the season in a comfortable 7th place. We also secured the previously elusive Juniors cup, now known as the Cliff Evans trophy. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we continued our winning streak in 2020 by winning the Iain Mallett mini division.

In 2021, we made a significant leap by re-entering a 2nd XI into the YDCL. Although they only won 5 games, their greatest success was in consistently fielding at least 10 players, thanks to the efforts of our Chairman Andrew Knowles, Club Captain Greg Taylor, and 2nd XI Captain Dan "Danimal" Shirt. Our 1st XI continued to excel, winning Division 3 and finishing as runners-up in the Phill Denniff Cup.

The 2022 season was a year of consolidation for us. Our 1st XI finished a tactical 4th in Division 2, while the 2nd XI finished 5th with 8 wins and 8 losses. Despite the challenges faced by our Sunday XI, they played with determination and spirit.

At Baslow CC, individuals have a chance to shine. Our players have consistently won individual league awards in batting and bowling. We believe in fostering talent and providing opportunities for our players to excel.

Looking ahead to 2023, our goals include winning Division 2 for the 1st XI, securing a 3rd-place finish in Division 3 for the 2nd XI, and increasing availability for the Sunday XI. We are also seeking a young and enthusiastic captain to lead our Sunday XI, someone who is eager to test their tactical and management skills.

Our Sunday side offers a more relaxed social game, perfect for those who want to enjoy cricket at a leisurely pace. We also have a vibrant junior section with coaching available for young cricketers starting from the age of 7.

Come and visit us on Saturday mornings to see our young cricketers in action. We have dedicated coaches who are committed to nurturing their skills and development. For those who prefer watching the game, our ground offers excellent playground facilities for children and a Pavilion cafe where you can enjoy refreshments.
