Profile
Welcome to Bishop Auckland CC
Welcome to Bishop Auckland Cricket Club, a friendly and inclusive club that has been a part of the community since 1853. We pride ourselves on providing a sociable environment where cricket enthusiasts of all ages and abilities can come together to enjoy the sport.
Our club has a rich history, with records indicating that cricket was played in Bishop Auckland even before its official formation. The village of Bishop Auckland expanded rapidly in the 19th century, leading to the establishment of cricket matches on South Church Road. Over the years, our club gradually moved along this road, playing on various fields until finally settling on our current ground, Kingsway, in 1908.
Bishop Auckland Cricket Club faced some challenges in the early years, but eventually gained acceptance into the NYSD league in 1905. Since then, our team has achieved numerous successes, becoming champions for the first time in 1934. We have gone on to win the title on several other occasions, including 1966, 1973, 1980, and 1999.
We are proud to have a thriving junior section, offering opportunities for children aged 5 to 18 to develop their cricket skills and participate in the Durham County Junior League. We believe in nurturing the next generation of cricketers and providing them with a supportive and enjoyable environment to learn and grow.
As a community-centered club, we are grateful for the support we receive from our members and local businesses. Their contributions are invaluable in ensuring the continued success of our club. We welcome anyone and everyone with an interest in cricket to come and join us at our Kingsway ground. Whether you are a seasoned player or a complete beginner, you will find a warm and welcoming atmosphere here at Bishop Auckland Cricket Club.
If you have any questions or would like to become a part of our club, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us today. We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you into our cricketing family.
