Welcome to Hallam CC
Welcome to Hallam Cricket Club, a warm and inclusive community where cricket enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds come together to enjoy the game. Established way back in 1804, Hallam is one of the oldest cricket clubs in the area, proudly playing on what is arguably the oldest club ground in Yorkshire. Over the years, we have grown and now boast two grounds at Sandygate and Crimicar Lane, supporting an incredible 24 different teams.
Our senior division is highly competitive, consisting of six Saturday league teams. The 1st XI competes in the YCSPL Championship, the 2nd XI in the 2nd Division, and the 3rd XI in the 5th Division. Additionally, our 4th, 5th, and 6th XIs participate in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th divisions of the Yorkshire & Derbyshire Cricket League. Wednesday evenings bring alive the thrill of cricket with matches played by our 1st division team in the Sheffield Midweek Alliance. Furthermore, our Sunday Friendly side offers fixtures every week, while women’s and girls’ cricket is actively promoted through regular girls-only practices.
With over 200 junior players, we provide year-round cricket opportunities for children. Our winter coaching sessions take place from November to April, and we have established strong connections with local schools. During term time, our juniors participate in matches in the Ben Jessop and North Derbyshire leagues, and throughout the summer holidays, they can join our cricket camps, held four days a week. Many talented boys and girls have gone on to represent both Sheffield and Yorkshire in their respective age group teams. We are especially proud of our participation numbers, having had the highest number of All Stars (5-7 year olds) and Dynamos (8-11 year olds) in the entire country in 2021.
At Hallam, inclusivity, diversity, and fairness are deeply ingrained in our club culture. We strive to provide an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued. Recent events have reminded us of the importance of upholding these core values. We have a diverse mix of players at both senior and junior levels, with a senior BAME representation of 19% and a junior BAME representation of 27.5%. We actively discourage any behavior, both on and off the pitch, that may cause offense or discrimination.
As part of our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, we adhere to the ECB’s One Game Strategy and have implemented our own Inclusion and Diversity Policy. We encourage anyone who experiences any behavior that goes against these principles to reach out to our club secretary, Richard Storer, or our club safeguarding officer, Liam Mitchell. Anonymous reporting is available, and all concerns will be fully investigated and addressed.
So whether you’re an experienced senior player looking for a competitive league or a young cricket enthusiast eager to learn and develop your skills, Hallam Cricket Club is the perfect place for you. Join us today and become a part of our friendly and supportive cricket community. Contact Richard Storer at richard@hallamcc.co.uk to get started on your Hallam CC journey.
