Description
Welcome to Monk Bretton Cricket Club, a progressive and family-oriented club located in Monk Bretton, Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Our club has a rich history and is looking forward to an exciting 2024 season.
2016 marked a pivotal year for us as we made the move from the Pontefract Cricket League to the Yorkshire Cricket Southern Premier League. Since then, we have proudly competed in this prestigious league and have successfully climbed the ranks. This year, our 1st XI will be playing in Division Two after being crowned champions of Division Three last season. Additionally, our 2nd XI will be competing in Division Eight of the YCSPL.
We also have a Development XI that participates in the Barnsley Sunday League. This team provides an excellent opportunity for our junior players to experience adult cricket alongside our seasoned seniors.
Our junior setup is one of the cornerstones of our club, led by our Head Coach and former Yorkshire CCC player, Chris Schofield. We take great pride in our junior development program, which has been recognized with the prestigious Club Mark award by the ECB. We are committed to maintaining excellent standards and investing in the development of all our cricketers.
In recent years, we have made significant improvements to our facilities and will continue to do so as funding allows. We encourage all our members to contribute their time, dedication, ideas, practice, coaching, and support as we strive to take the club to new heights in 2024.
If you are interested in joining our progressive and friendly club, we invite you to contact us through our website. We are always on the lookout for talented and committed cricketers across all levels. We warmly welcome new junior cricketers throughout the 2024 season and hope that they will find a home at our club.
Come be a part of Monk Bretton Cricket Club, where passion for the sport meets a vibrant and supportive community.
