Welcome to Newtown CC, the premier cricket club in Mid Wales. With a rich history dating back to 1847, this club has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the cricketing world. Playing at a high amateur standard in the Shropshire League, Newtown CC has produced a number of outstanding sportsmen who have gone on to achieve great success in their careers.

At Newtown CC, our ethos is simple: we strive to provide our members of all ages with the best opportunities to play and enjoy the game of cricket. Whether you are a seasoned professional or a complete novice, our club is dedicated to helping you develop your skills and have a great time on the pitch.

All home games take place at The Recreation Ground, a picturesque venue that offers a stunning backdrop for players, visitors, and supporters alike. This iconic ground has witnessed countless memorable moments throughout its history and continues to be a beloved home for our cricketing community.

Our First Team XI currently competes in the Shropshire Division One, under the skillful captaincy of All Rounder Ally Laird. He leads a talented group of players who are known for their passion, commitment, and exceptional performance on the field. Additionally, our Second XI will be playing in the Shropshire Division Five, led by the capable captain Ian Hancocks.

One of our proudest achievements is the vibrant youth academy we have cultivated at Newtown CC. With a successful U15’s side, as well as the 50+ Allstars and Dynamos programs, we are dedicated to nurturing and developing the talent of our young cricketers. Many of our current First Team and Second Team players have emerged from our esteemed youth academy, a testament to the effectiveness of our coaching and mentorship programs.

In addition to our youth programs, we have recently introduced Ladies softball training and are actively seeking to expand on this initiative in the future. This reflects our commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity within our club, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate and excel in the sport they love.
