Old Brentwoods Cricket Club

Welcome to Old Brentwoods CC, a cricket club based at the Society of Old Brentwoods grounds in Brentwood, Essex. Originally founded for former pupils of Brentwood School, the club is now open to all cricket enthusiasts of all ages and abilities.

The club has a rich history, dating back to its establishment in 1909. However, its operations were interrupted by both World War I and World War II. The club was reestablished in the 1950s and has since flourished. In the early 1970s, it became one of the founding members of the Shepherd Neame Essex League, which it has twice been crowned champions of in 1988 and 1991.

Old Brentwoods CC is privileged to call the Society of Old Brentwoods' ground at Ashwells Road home. Apart from cricket, members also have access to a range of other sports facilities such as football, rugby, tennis, squash, and table tennis, allowing for a well-rounded sporting experience. The club also takes advantage of its affiliation with the Society to host various social events throughout the year, including an annual dinner featuring guest speakers such as Matthew Hoggard, Geoff Miller, Gordon Greenidge, Ryan Ten Doeschate, and James Foster.

On Saturdays, the club competes with three teams in the Shepherd Neame Essex League, showcasing their skills and determination on the field. Additionally, they have a side in the Essex Sunday League and actively participate in the League T20 competition. To add excitement to their cricket calendar, the club organizes an annual four-match tour to Hampshire and West Sussex in August, known as the Brentwood Bunglers.

Not only do they thrive during the summer season, but Old Brentwoods CC also keeps the cricket spirit alive during the winter months. They have teams participating in various indoor competitions, including an Over 40s side.

The club's dedication to maintaining high standards is evident through its ECB/Sport England Clubmark accreditation. This recognition further emphasizes Old Brentwoods CC's commitment to providing a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive environment for all members.
