Profile
Welcome to South Shields CC
Established in 1850, South Shields CC has been empowering young people in our community through the love of cricket for over 170 years. Our club is deeply rooted in the South Shields community and has a rich history of fostering talent and promoting the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
At South Shields CC, we have a strong focus on both senior and junior cricket. On weekends, we field four senior teams, with our 1st and 2nd teams competing in the prestigious Durham and North East League on Saturdays. On Sundays, our 3rd and 4th teams participate in the Hetton Lyons Sunday League, showcasing our club’s commitment to providing diverse playing opportunities for our members.
Our junior section is the heartbeat of our club, and we proudly offer teams at various age groups including U9, U11, U13, U15, U18, and U19. We believe in nurturing young talent and providing them with the platform to excel in cricket. Many of our juniors also have the opportunity to play for our senior teams from the U13 level and above.
In 2021, we were thrilled to welcome a significant number of girls to our club, enhancing the diversity and inclusivity of our cricketing community. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued, regardless of their gender or background.
The success of our senior teams is a testament to the strength of our junior section. It is not uncommon to see our senior teams made up entirely of juniors who have been groomed through our junior development programs. We take immense pride in seeing our young talents flourish and become integral members of our club.
At South Shields CC, we are more than just a cricket club. We are a community that supports, nurtures, and empowers young people through the sport we all love. Whether you are a seasoned player or just starting your cricketing journey, we invite you to join us and be a part of our rich history and bright future. Together, let us continue to grow the love and passion for cricket in our community.
