Our club has a rich history that dates back to 1927 when it was founded as a Church Side. St Saviour's Church played a significant role in the establishment of Westgate-on-Sea Cricket Club. In the early days, there were two clubs in the village - Westgate, which consisted of Masters from the private schools in the District, and the St Saviour's Club.
Since 1950, Westgate Cricket Club has been playing cricket at Hawtrey's Field on a regular basis. Over the years, we have hosted teams from various areas, including Thanet, Dover, Canterbury, Medway Towns, and even teams from farther afield, such as Luton and London. Notable London teams we have welcomed include the Crown & Manor, London Cosmos, and the Commonwealth & Caribbean teams.
Our current 1st XI proudly represents our club in the Kent League, which consists of 30 divisions and 288 teams. Westgate Cricket Club competes in Division 8, showcasing the skill and determination of our players. We are constantly striving to improve and achieve success on the cricket pitch.
At Westgate-On-Sea Cricket Club, we prioritize creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. Whether you are an experienced player or just starting out, our club offers opportunities for everyone to learn, play, and enjoy the game of cricket. We believe that cricket is not just a sport but an avenue to build friendships, develop skills, and foster a sense of community.
