Ashish Matta

Born in the vibrant city of Jaipur on 28th July 1991, Ashish Matta's cricketing journey started on the dusty pitches of Rajasthan. From a tender age, Ashish showed an exceptional knack for the game, often found wielding a bat in cramped city lanes, practising with unmatched zeal. His early promise earned him a place in the Rajasthan Under-19 team, where he honed his skills, emerging as a reliable right-handed batsman.

As he steadily climbed the ranks, his batting prowess caught the eye of selectors, leading to his much-anticipated professional debut in the domestic circuit by the age of 19. His debut was nothing short of spectacular as he quickly made a name for himself with his fierce drives and exquisite timing. Ashish soon became a linchpin for his team, playing vital roles with the willow as well as with the ball, showcasing his right-arm fast-medium bowling when called upon.

Perhaps one of his most unforgettable performances came during the Ranji Trophy of 2015 when Ashish played a pivotal innings against Maharashtra, leading his side to a thrilling victory with a career-defining century. That innings not only cemented his reputation as a formidable batsman but also ignited a fierce rivalry with Maharashtra, adding a layer of fervour to their subsequent encounters.

Ashish's career is punctuated with significant milestones, including being part of the Rajasthan team that clinched the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy thrice in the last decade. His consistent performances in the domestic league opened the doors to the Indian Premier League, where he became a stalwart for the Kolkata Knight Riders, contributing to their mid-2010s success with several match-winning knocks.
