Chad Classen

Chad Classen, born on 17th January 1997, in the picturesque town of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, found himself irresistibly drawn to the game of cricket from a young age. The clang of leather on willow often echoed through his backyard, nurturing a passion that would eventually shape his life's path.

Growing up, Chad displayed an uncanny knack for bowling, soon emerging as a prodigious talent in school cricket competitions. His swift transition from schoolboy wonder to a promising young player came when he joined the KwaZulu-Natal provincial team. This proved to be the springboard he needed, as his fiery right-arm-fast deliveries consistently bamboozled opponents, leading to his debut for the Dolphins in South Africa's domestic circuit in 2016.

Chad's bowling was a spectacle: right-arm-fast, he relied on pace and an unerring ability to extract bounce even on the deadest of pitches. His knack for unsettling batsmen with sharp rising deliveries was reminiscent of the great speedsters. Batting lower down the order, Chad was a right-hand-bat with a dependable defence, occasionally providing crucial late-order runs when his team needed them the most.

He shone brightly in the 2018–19 domestic season, spearheading the Dolphins’ charge to the Momentum One Day Cup title, where his bowling in the final against the Titans was instrumental; a spell that many say was the turning point of that match. Chad ended with the best figures of 4/27, leaving batters grappling with his lethal outswingers.

One of the most unforgettable chapters of his career unfolded during a particularly tense T20 rivalry between the Dolphins and the Cape Cobras. Chad's memorable hat-trick in the dying overs not only sealed a nervy win but also solidified his status as one of the league's finest finishers with the ball.

Chad's journey hasn't been entirely smooth, with injuries marring certain seasons. Nevertheless, his resilience and contribution to the game have led to memorable achievements, including his record of being the fastest to amass 100 wickets in the domestic T20 circuit – a testament to his skill and consistency.
