Born on the 24th of November, 1981, Dinesh Loronsu Hewa emerged from the sun-drenched fields of southern Sri Lanka, where cricket is more than a pastime—it’s a way of life. From a tender age, Dinesh displayed a profound passion for the game, tirelessly practicing with whatever he could lay his hands on, be it a humble tennis ball or a stick fashioned into a bat.

Educated at the prestigious Rahula College in Matara, Dinesh cut his teeth playing for the school team. It wasn't long before his talent was spotted, showcasing a natural flair for fast-medium bowling. His right-arm pace coupled with an uncanny ability to swing the ball both ways made him a peculiar challenge for seasoned batsmen. With his right hand batting capably in the lower order, Dinesh showcased versatility, though it was his bowling that was his calling card.

His journey into professional cricket began with a debut for the Galle Cricket Club at the tender age of 20. Rapidly rising through the ranks, Loronsu Hewa made his national team debut in 2003 against the formidable Australians.
