Farrukh Ilyas was born on the very first day of the new millennium, in 2001, in the bustling city of Lahore, Pakistan. His love affair with cricket began in the narrow streets of his hometown, where his uncles would bowl tennis balls at him endlessly until twilight. As a precocious youngster, Farrukh's innate knack for striking the ball cleanly soon caught the attention of local coaches.

Farrukh's rise through the ranks was anything but smooth. After a stint in age-group cricket, he broke into the Lahore U-19 team, proving instrumental in several hard-fought victories on regional circuits. But perhaps the moment that set him on his path was his remarkable 180 in a U-19 match that caught the eyes of national selectors. At the tender age of 19, Farrukh made his professional debut for the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League.
