Ismail Zia, born on the 1st of January, 2001, in the bustling heart of Lahore, seemed destined to have cricket in his veins. From the tender age of seven, he was seen wielding a bat far too big for him, in the quiet alleyways of his neighbourhood, his imagination transforming them into the grandest cricket stadiums.

Zia's cricketing journey began in earnest on the sun-baked school grounds where he caught the eye of a local coach with his innate ability to adapt his batting technique to any situation - be it the quick singles or the audacious lofted sixes over cover. By the age of 15, he was already a vital cog in his school and later, district team.

His professional debut came in 2019 in the domestic circuit, where his allrounder capabilities shone through, earning him a spot in the national U-19 team.
