Balapuwaduge Kusal Gimhan Mendis, popularly known as Kusal Mendis, is a professional cricketer from Sri Lanka.
Born on February 2, 1995 in Colombo, Mendis is celebrated for his compact technique, aggressive batting style, and unwavering determination.
Considered one of the most promising young batsmen in the world, he has made a name for himself in both Test and ODI formats.

Mendis quickly rose through the ranks of the age-group system, showcasing his exceptional talent and earning recognition as a formidable batsman.
Despite having played only 16 first-class innings, he made his Test debut at the tender age of 20.
It didn't take long for him to leave a lasting impact, as he scored a monumental maiden Test century of 176 runs against Australia at Pallekele.
This outstanding knock not only turned the match in Sri Lanka's favor but also proved to be one of the greatest innings by a Sri Lankan batsman, especially considering no other player managed to score more than 55 runs in the game.

Prior to his international debut, Mendis had already gained a significant following for his exemplary performances in Sri Lanka's school cricket system.
In 2013, he was recognized for his exceptional skills as a wicketkeeper and right-hand batsman, winning the prestigious Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year award for his contributions to the Prince of Wales College team.
The following year, he captained Sri Lanka's under-19 team in the Youth World Cup, further establishing his leadership qualities and cricketing prowess.

Making his first-class debut for Bloomfield Cricket Club in the Premier League Tournament of 2015, Mendis had a decent start to his career, amassing 459 runs at an average of 30.60 in his first season.
However, it was his impressive performances in the Moin-ud-Dowlah three-day tournament in Hyderabad that caught the attention of national selectors.
As a result, he was included in the squad for the series against West Indies in October 2015 and made his international debut in the second match.

Since then, Mendis has continued to impress with his batting skills and has become a vital part of Sri Lanka's Test top four.
In addition to his success in the Test arena, he has also produced noteworthy performances in ODI cricket.
Known for his ability to rotate the strike and find the boundaries, Mendis has displayed tremendous maturity and consistency in his game.

With an illustrious career ahead of him, Kusal Mendis remains an integral part of Sri Lanka's cricketing future.
His compact technique, aggressive impulse, and unyielding resolve make him a formidable opponent on any given day.
As he continues to hone his skills and refine his game, the cricketing world eagerly awaits more remarkable performances from this talented batsman from Sri Lanka.
