Prasanna Tikiriyadura's love affair with cricket began in the bustling streets of Galle, Sri Lanka, where makeshift stumps and worn-out tennis balls kindled his passion for the game. Born on 17th June 1968, Prasanna's journey was anything but smooth as he navigated through the ranks of local cricket clubs. His adeptness behind the stumps soon caught the eye of school coaches, who moulded him into a razor-sharp wicketkeeper. His batting, right-handed and often explosive, complemented his safe pair of hands in the field.

Prasanna made his way through domestic cricket with a blend of grit and flair. It was his stint with the Colombo Cricket Club that served as a springboard, propelling him into the limelight and towards a much-anticipated professional debut. Prasanna's bout with first-class cricket began in the late 1980s, a period in which Sri Lankan cricket was on the precipice of evolution, and he was part of that transformative pool.

His career is bookmarked with milestones; he was instrumental in Sri Lanka’s unexpected triumph at the Asia Cup in the early '90s, keeping wickets with formidable dexterity while contributing crucial runs in the lower middle order.
