Pravin Kalyan Amre is a former Indian cricketer who made a significant impact during his brief international career.
Born on August 14, 1968, in Mumbai, India, Amre possessed immense talent as a stylish right-hand batsman and was known for his ability to perform under challenging circumstances.

Amre's entry into the world of cricket was greatly influenced by his association with the renowned coach Ramakant Achrekar, who also mentored legendary cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli.
Under Achrekar's guidance, Amre honed his skills and developed a deep understanding of the game.

He made his debut in first-class cricket for Bombay (now Mumbai) in the Ranji Trophy during the 1986-87 season.
However, it wasn't until the 1992-93 series against South Africa that Amre gained international recognition.
In the first Test at Durban, he defied a formidable bowling attack comprising greats like Allan Donald, Richard Snell, and Brian McMillan, scoring a brilliant century on debut.
This exceptional achievement on foreign soil remains a cherished memory for both Amre and Indian cricket fans.

Despite his impressive start, Amre's international career was short-lived, as he only played two seasons for India between 1992 and 1994.
Unfortunately, he was dropped from the team before he could fully establish himself at the highest level.
However, his domestic performances continued to be outstanding.

Representing various state teams, including Railways, Rajasthan, and Bengal, Amre consistently showcased his prowess as a batsman in the Ranji Trophy.
His standout performance came in the Irani Trophy, where he scored a remarkable 246 runs for Rest of India against Bengal.
This innings remains the highest individual score in the history of the tournament.

Amre's temperament and ability to excel in longer-format matches were evident during the 1989-90 Duleep Trophy.
In three matches, he amassed scores of 106, 240 not out, and 113, cementing his status as a dependable player in the longer version of the game.
His consistent performances led many to believe that he was a deserving candidate for a permanent spot in the Indian team.

In the 1999-00 season, Amre played cricket in the South African domestic circuit, representing Boland.
During his time there, he displayed exceptional form and achieved remarkable success with the bat.
This raised questions among cricket enthusiasts as to why he wasn't given more opportunities to represent India at the international level.

Reflecting on his international career, Amre humbly stated that he had always given his best on the field.
However, he acknowledged that team selection was beyond his control.
Despite the disappointment of not achieving a long and illustrious career, Amre's contributions to Indian cricket are still celebrated.

After retiring from active cricket, Amre pursued coaching and became a highly regarded mentor.
He has worked with various Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, including the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians, helping young cricketers refine their skills and achieve their full potential.

Pravin Kalyan Amre's indomitable spirit, elegant stroke play, and dedication to the game have left an indelible mark on Indian cricket.
Though his international career was short, his ability to make a century on debut in testing conditions remains a remarkable feat and a testament to his talent as a batsman.
