Shehaan Fernando’s journey in cricket began on the sunlit streets of Colombo, where he first picked up a cricket bat at the age of six. Born on 16th December 1996, Shehaan showed an innate passion and flair for the game right from the outset. His early years were spent perfecting his strokes, often smashing the tennis ball against the walls of his family home. He quickly advanced through the youth ranks, catching the eye of local coaches who were impressed by his natural talent as a right-handed batsman.

Breaking into the professional scene, Shehaan’s debut was with the Colombo District Under-19s, where his consistent performances earned him a spot in the Sri Lankan domestic circuit. Not long after, he made waves in the Lankan Premier League, gaining a reputation for his aggressive yet calculated batting style, reminiscent of many cricketing greats. His debut for the Colombo Kings was a defining moment, where, in a tense chase, his unbeaten 78 runs led his team to victory, marking his arrival on the big stage.

Fernando’s prowess isn’t limited to just batting; he is also a capable right-arm fast-medium bowler, often used to break crucial partnerships and keep opposition batsmen in check. It was during a pivotal match against Galle Gladiators that his dual strength shone through. Known for his precise Yorkers and strategic bouncers, he claimed a surprising four-wicket haul, turning the match in his team's favour.

Among Shehaan’s notable achievements was his electrifying innings in the final of the 2022 Domestic One-Day Cup, where he scored an unbeaten 150, steering his team to a historic win and earning himself the Player of the Tournament accolade. His encounters against arch-rivals Kandy Falcons have always been a treat for fans, filled with fierce competition and nerve-wracking finishes.
