Usman Haider

Usman Haider, born on 27th November 1981, embarked on an extraordinary cricketing journey from the bustling streets of Karachi, where the echoes of a tennis ball striking makeshift wickets ignited his passion. Like many young Pakistani cricketers, he honed his skills in the local alleyways before capturing the attention of regional scouts. His dedication and natural talent as a wicketkeeper set him apart; by the age of 15, he had already secured his place in the Karachi Under-19 team.

As a wicketkeeper who also excelled with the bat, Usman Haider was a beacon of versatility, often acting as a safety anchor for his team during demanding chases. His professional debut came in 2001, and it was not long before he donned the green jersey for the national side. Although his international career began quietly, his consistent performances in domestic cricket gradually solidified his place in the Pakistan team.

Haider’s career was punctuated by moments of brilliance. Amongst his notable achievements was his crucial role in Pakistan's victorious 2004 Asia Cup campaign, where his agility behind the stumps and timely contributions with the bat were instrumental.
