Born on 25th November 1987, Anwar Ali’s passion for cricket was evident from an early age. When he first arrived at the National Cricket Academy nets, he only had a pair of worn-out shoes. However, Aaqib Javed recognized his potential and immediately took him under his wing. Determined to provide Anwar with the tools he needed for success, Aaqib ensured that he had proper spikes and other cricket equipment.

Known for his fast bowling capabilities, Anwar is a testament to the typical Pakistani style of cricket. Capable of swinging the ball, both old and new, at a decent pace, he poses a formidable threat to any opposing team. His talent was put on display for the world to witness during the 2006 Under-19 World Cup final against India in Colombo. With an outstanding 5 for 35, Anwar spearheaded Pakistan’s 38-run victory, leaving a lasting impression on cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

Anwar’s success was not limited to the Under-19 level. His early performances in first-class cricket showcased his abilities with both bat and ball. Subsequently, he impressed with his performances during tours of Zimbabwe and Kenya with the Academy team, where he took an impressive 29 wickets at an average of 16.31.

Anwar’s consistent performances did not go unnoticed, and he was duly rewarded with a spot in Pakistan’s squad for the four-nation Twenty20 tournament in Canada in October of the same year. This was a testament to the impact he had made on the cricketing world in a relatively short period of time.
