Bilal Khan, the left-arm swing bowler, has emerged as the backbone of Oman’s bowling attack and one of the most successful pace bowlers on the Associate scene in recent years. With a remarkable ODI bowling average that is only bettered by a few legendary names, Bilal has played a crucial role in Oman’s rise to prominence in international cricket.
Born and raised in Pakistan, Bilal started his cricketing journey in the domestic cricket scene of Peshawar. However, where he truly shines is in his spells at the death, where his devastating reverse-swinging yorkers have proven to be lethal. In a crucial elimination match against Hong Kong at the 2019 T20 World Cup Qualifier, Bilal’s spell became the turning point that led Oman to a victory and secured their spot in the T20 World Cup.
Bilal’s extraordinary performances continued in the 2019-2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League Two ODI tournament for Associates. Playing in all 35 matches, he emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Oman, capturing an impressive 76 wickets, including three five-wicket hauls. What made his achievement even more remarkable was the challenging tournament format, with ODIs often played on consecutive days. Bilal’s dominance and durability throughout the tournament showcased his skills and determination.
