Chris Green bio

Christopher James Green, widely known as Chris Green, is an Australian professional cricketer who has made a notable impact in the world of T20 cricket. Born in South Africa but raised in Australia, Green established himself as a talented offspinner with a unique ability to excel during the powerplay overs.

Green’s journey in cricket began after he decided to pursue the sport alongside his promising junior tennis career. His dedication and skill soon caught the attention of the Sydney Thunder, who gave him an extended opportunity to showcase his talents during their victorious 2015-16 Big Bash campaign. It was during this time that Green emerged as one of the most consistent performers in the tournament, particularly with his remarkable bowling performances.

Impressed by his abilities, Johan Botha, former coach of Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League, signed Green as a replacement player. Green did not disappoint, quickly establishing a strong partnership with Botha and even taking over as captain for the final few games of the 2018 tournament. Although Guyana lost in the final, Green’s captaincy and impressive performances secured him a spot in the team for the following season. Moreover, Botha’s faith in him extended to the Pakistan Super League, where Green joined Multan Sultans.

In addition to his spin bowling prowess, Green has proven himself to be a useful lower-order batsman and an exceptional outfielder. While opportunities in other formats of the game have been limited, Green has earned a reputation as a highly-talented short-form player. His skills were recognized when he was acquired by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction in 2019, further solidifying his presence on the franchise circuit. Notably, Green also signed a record-breaking six-year deal with the Sydney Thunder.

However, Green faced a significant setback in early 2020 when he was banned from bowling due to a suspect action. Both his offbreak and quicker ball came under scrutiny, leading to a six-month period of testing in Brisbane. Fortunately, he was ultimately cleared and able to return to the game that he loves.

As a consistently impressive performer in T20 cricket, Green has gained widespread recognition for his contributions to the sport. With his dedication, determination, and passion for the game, he continues to make a substantial impact as a cricketer. Although his journey has faced its fair share of obstacles, Green’s resilience and skill ensure that he remains a force to be reckoned with in the world of cricket.
