Harry Finch bio

Harry Zacariah Finch is a talented cricket player hailing from England. Known for his pugnacious and squat batting style, Finch has made a name for himself in the cricketing world.

Finch rose to prominence in 2018 when he secured his maiden Championship hundred against Middlesex at Hove. This achievement came during a season where the head coach, Jason Gillespie, provided several young batsmen, including Finch, with the opportunity for regular cricket. Despite narrowly missing promotion, Finch proved his mettle and finished the season with a first-class average of around 30.

In 2016, Finch delivered a memorable performance against the Pakistan tourists at Hove, forming an opening stand of 200-plus with Luke Wells, which included a century. This milestone marked his maiden hundred in first-class cricket. Prior to this, Finch had made his first-class debut in the final match of the 2013 season against Durham, where Sussex emerged victorious.

Finch’s journey has not been without its challenges. In 2017, he suffered a broken thumb that ended his campaign prematurely. However, he demonstrated his abilities again in 2019 with a commendable batting display, hitting 89 runs from just 68 balls in a 50-over game against Kent. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a false dawn, as he struggled to maintain consistent performance throughout the season, ending with five ducks in six innings during the Championship.

Aside from his batting skills, Finch also dabbles in right-arm medium-fast bowling. Hailing from Hastings, he began his cricket career playing for the Under-13 team before progressing to represent England Under-19s. In recognition of his potential, he was awarded his first professional contract in 2014.

Throughout his career, Finch has represented Sussex and made numerous appearances in various formats of the game. He made a lasting impression in his sole List A match against Glamorgan at Hove, where he smashed an impressive 92 from just 58 deliveries. Although the team faced defeat, his exceptional performance garnered attention and established him as a player to watch.

Inside or outside the boundary lines, Finch is focused and determined. While he has faced setbacks, he continues to persevere and work towards improving his game. His tenacity and dedication to the sport have earned him a loyal following of fans who eagerly anticipate his every innings.

As Finch continues to carve his path in the cricketing world, he remains a young player with immense potential. Despite the challenges and obstacles he has encountered, his passion and commitment are unwavering. With each match, Finch aims to surpass his previous achievements and cement his place among the best cricket players in England.
