Khalid Latif Bio

Khalid Latif, the talented cricket player from Pakistan, has consistently displayed his prowess on the field since his early teenage years. Born on November 4, 1985, in Karachi, Khalid began his cricketing journey at a tender age and quickly rose through the ranks to establish himself as a formidable opening batsman.

Latif’s cricketing career took off when he made his first-class debut just a few days before turning 15 years old. However, it wasn’t until his Youth Test debut in 2003 that he started to make a notable impact. Appointed as the captain of Pakistan Under-19s for a series against Sri Lanka, Khalid proved his mettle by scoring an impressive 77 runs in the first match. Undoubtedly, this performance marked the beginning of a promising cricketing journey.

The most significant milestone in Khalid Latif’s career came when he captained the Pakistan U-19s to a World Cup victory in 2004. Leading his team to triumph, Khalid showcased his stellar leadership skills and his innate ability to perform under pressure. This victory not only solidified his status as a rising star in Pakistan’s cricketing landscape but also paved the way for his future successes.

During the subsequent season, Latif attained his maiden first-class century, concluding the year with a remarkable tally of nearly 400 runs. He consistently displayed exceptional performances with the bat, highlighting his unwavering dedication and talent. In the 2007-2008 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, he excelled, accumulating close to 600 runs, which further bolstered his reputation.

With Pakistan in search of reliable opening options, the national selectors handed Khalid Latif his One Day International (ODI) debut. Unfortunately, his performance in his maiden ODI against Zimbabwe in Faisalabad was not up to the mark, leading to a temporary omission from the squad after the ICC World Twenty20 in 2010. However, his undeniable potential and impressive domestic performances earned him a recall to the T20 squad for the tour of Sri Lanka a few years later.

Before his comeback, Khalid showcased exceptional form in the domestic one-day tournament, emerging as the leading run-scorer for the Karachi Dolphins. This achievement reaffirmed his ability to consistently perform at a high level and underscored his determination to succeed on the international stage.

Though Khalid Latif’s cricketing career has witnessed its share of ups and downs, his immense talent and dedication have always shone through. As he continues to work on improving his skills, he remains a valuable asset to Pakistan’s cricketing fraternity.
