Kirk Anton Edwards is a West Indian cricketer who garnered instant attention when he became only the 14th player from the Caribbean to score a century on his Test debut. Born into a cricketing family, Edwards developed a passion for the sport at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks of age-group-level cricket.
Edwards was born on February 25, 1984, in Barbados. He began playing cricket at a tender age and showcased immense talent from the start. Soon thereafter, an opportunity arose when he was called up to replace an injured Adrian Barath in the West Indies’ squad for the 2011 World Cup held in India.
Although Edwards only featured in one match during the tournament, his talent and potential were evident. As a result, he was included in the squad for the subsequent home one-day series against Pakistan and India. However, it was in the Test arena that Edwards truly made his mark. He made his Test debut in the final match of India’s Test series in the West Indies in 2011, and he made an immediate impact by scoring a brilliant century in the second innings.
