Growing up in Cox’s Bazar, a place known for its serene beaches and tourist attractions, Mominul’s love for cricket was evident from an early age. He was enrolled in the Bangladesh Krira Shiksha Protishtan (BKSP), the largest sports institute in the country, where he would receive the necessary training and guidance to hone his skills.

Mominul’s talent and dedication quickly caught the attention of his coaches and selectors. As a left-handed batsman, he displayed great potential and was soon making his mark in age-group cricket. His hard work paid off when he made his first-class debut for Dhaka Division in the 2008-09 season, impressing with his solid technique and ability to build innings.

His consistent performances earned him a place in the Bangladesh A team’s tour to the West Indies in 2011, where he made an impressive statement by scoring a magnificent 150 in the opening match of the tour.

Despite the growing calls for his inclusion in the national team, the selectors held back, wanting to give Mominul more time to develop his skills and gain experience. However, his talent could not be ignored for long, and he received his well-deserved call-up to the Bangladesh national team in November 2012.

Mominul’s maiden call-up came as a replacement for the injured Shakib Al Hasan for the first two ODIs against West Indies. With his impeccable technique and determination, he made an immediate impact, showcasing his ability to adapt to the demands of international cricket.
