Nathan Buck Bio

Nathan Liam Buck, born on January 16, 1991, in England, is a professional cricketer known for his fast bowling prowess. Despite facing challenges in his early career, Buck has showcased his talent and potential on the field, leaving a mark in the cricketing world.

Having started his cricketing journey at a young age, Buck quickly gained attention for his impressive speed and accuracy. Even as a teenager, he regularly clocked around 75mph, leaving seasoned players astounded. His talent and dedication led him to train with England A as well as receive guidance from renowned bowling coach Ottis Gibson during his formative years.

In 2008, Buck had the opportunity to further refine his skills when he travelled to India to attend the Dennis Lillee Foundation for a two-week training program. This experience proved invaluable to his growth as a cricketer, shaping his mindset and approach to the game.

Buck made his first-class debut for Leicestershire in 2009, showcasing his potential against Surrey at the Oval. The following year, he represented England at the Under-19 World Cup, where he emerged as the team’s leading wicket-taker with an impressive tally of 13 scalps. This achievement paved the way for his selection in the England Lions tour to the West Indies, where he further proved his skills by claiming five wickets.

Although Buck experienced early success, subsequent seasons presented challenges for him. Injuries hindered his progress, preventing him from reaching his full potential. However, his determination remained unwavering, and he continued to work hard to overcome these setbacks.

In 2014, Buck opted to leave Leicestershire and joined Lancashire, seeking a fresh start and new opportunities. While his first-class records were initially unspectacular, he demonstrated improvement in his final season at Grace Road by taking 42 wickets in nine games at an average of 30.71. This resurgence gave Lancashire hope for his future in the sport, with the belief that, at the age of 23, his best performances were yet to come.

Unfortunately, the expectations placed upon Buck did not materialize as hoped. A disappointing performance against his former team led to his release from Lancashire with one year remaining on his contract. However, he remained determined and motivated to prove himself, thus joining Northamptonshire in order to gain more consistent playing time across all formats of the game.

Described as highly rated and talented, Buck’s cricketing journey has been one of ups and downs. Despite the challenges he has faced, he continues to push forward with a resilient mindset, eager to make a mark in the cricketing world. With his focus, determination, and skill set, there is no doubt that Buck still has the potential to achieve great success in his career as a cricketer.
