Robert George Samuels, known by many as Robert Samuels, is a former professional cricket player from the West Indies. Although he did not secure a permanent place in the West Indies national team, Samuels showcased his solid technique, capable of both defensive and attacking play.

Born on January 11, 1968, in Kingston, Jamaica, Samuels displayed early promise as a cricketer. He honed his skills at the club level, impressing with his remarkable talent and determination. His sturdy technique allowed him to excel in both defensive and aggressive modes of play.

Samuels made his international debut in a Test match against Australia during the 1995-1996 series. While his performances were not consistent enough to solidify his position in the team, he showed glimpses of his true potential. In that same series, he played a match against New Zealand in Antigua, where he played an outstanding innings, smashing a magnificent century. His hundred was reached in style with a towering six down the ground off the bowling of Dipak Patel.

Despite his impressive contributions, Samuels struggled to maintain his spot in the West Indies side. His stint in the Red Stripe Cup, the premier domestic tournament in the Caribbean, did not yield the desired results, and he found himself sidelined from the senior squad. Nevertheless, his dedication and commitment to the sport never wavered.

One of Samuels’ most memorable performances came during the 1996-1997 tour of Australia. In a challenging match in Perth, he showcased his resilience by scoring 76 and an unbeaten 35 runs.
