Robin Venu Uthappa is an accomplished cricket player from India who has made a significant impact on the sport throughout his career. Known for his attractive strokeplay, hard-hitting abilities, and fearlessness in hitting the ball in the air, Uthappa has mesmerized fans with his batting prowess.

Born on November 11, 1985, in Karnataka, India, Uthappa’s cricket journey began to gain attention in 2005. During the Challenger Trophy in Mumbai, he showcased his talent with a remarkable knock of 66 runs against an attack that included esteemed bowlers such as Zaheer Khan, Murali Kartik, and RP Singh. Uthappa continued to make his mark in the following years, including a match-winning century for India B in the 2005 tournament held in Mohali.

Uthappa’s impressive performances earned him a spot in the senior India team for the final ODI against England in 2006. He played a well-paced innings of 86 runs and proved his potential on the international stage. A standout moment in his career came in 2007 when he was part of the Indian squad that clinched the World T20 title.

Unfortunately, Uthappa experienced a difficult phase in 2008, struggling to maintain consistency in international cricket and being dropped from the Indian team. However, he made a triumphant comeback in the 2013-14 season when his domestic team, Karnataka, achieved incredible success, winning the Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup, and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Uthappa’s exceptional performance in the 2014 Indian Premier League (IPL), where he scored 40 or more runs in ten consecutive innings for the Kolkata Knight Riders, further solidified his reputation as a top-class batsman. In the same tournament, he emerged as the leading run-scorer.

Continuing to excel in domestic cricket, Uthappa’s impressive run earned him a recall to the Indian team for their ODI series against Bangladesh in 2014. Despite intermittent rain-interruptions, he showcased his skills by contributing a fifty to the team’s success. However, Uthappa’s international appearances remained limited, with his last games for India occurring in 2015.

Throughout his career, Uthappa maintained a strong presence in the IPL. Representing the Kolkata Knight Riders from 2014 to 2019, he played a total of 86 games, amassing nearly 2500 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 136. In 2020, he moved to the Rajasthan Royals before concluding his career with the Chennai Super Kings in 2022. Later that year, he announced his retirement from both Indian and international cricket.
