His heroics in the last over of crucial matches, winning at least two out of eight matches single-handedly, caught the attention of Cricket South Africa. In February 2010, he was awarded a contract by his national team, despite never having played for them before. This was followed by an IPL contract with the Kings XI Punjab, where he made an immediate impact by winning the Man-of-the-Match award on his debut in a thrilling Super Over encounter.
As Theron’s star continues to rise, he has set his sights on representing his country at the highest level. In May, he was included in South Africa’s shortened 18-man squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in the West Indies, a testament to his hard work and dedication to the game.
