Born on April 15, 1987, in Multan, Pakistan, Maqsood displayed a passion for cricket from a young age. He made his first-class debut at just 17 years old, showcasing his skills as an offspinner. However, his journey as a bowler was abruptly halted when he suffered a back injury that kept him out of the game for three years.

Determined to make a comeback, Sohaib Maqsood focused on reinventing himself as a batter. He returned to the first-class cricket scene in the 2007-2008 season with a new and effective back-foot punch. This technique proved to be successful as he amassed 537 runs at an impressive average of 53.70.

Unfortunately, Maqsood’s run of good form was interrupted once again by injuries. He suffered an ankle ligament injury but remained undeterred in his pursuit of success. Following his recovery, he returned to the field in the 2010-2011 season, scoring a remarkable 951 first-class runs.

His outstanding performances caught the attention of the national selectors, and Maqsood was rewarded with a call-up to the Pakistani cricket team. In the following season, he continued to impress, accumulating 1020 first-class runs and 944 List A runs. These performances solidified his place in the national side and saw him make his international debut.

Sohaib Maqsood made an impactful entry into international cricket, with consecutive half-centuries in his first two One Day International (ODI) innings. In 2013, he showcased his skills against a formidable South African bowling attack comprising the likes of Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel. This stunning achievement highlighted his potential as a match-winning player for Pakistan.

Although Maqsood initially enjoyed success in international limited-overs cricket, his form dipped in subsequent years. However, he continued to ply his trade in domestic cricket, representing Multan in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the T20 Cup.
