Soumya Sarkar, hailing from Satkhira, Bangladesh, is a notable cricketer known for his exceptional batting skills and medium pace bowling.
Unlike many all-rounders from Bangladesh, Soumya stands out as he prefers bowling medium pace over spin, and on certain occasions, even opens the bowling for his team.

Born on February 25, 1993, Soumya started his cricketing journey from a young age at the prestigious Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) in Dhaka.
It was during his time there that his talent was recognized, and he was given the opportunity to represent Bangladesh in the Under-19 World Cup in 2010.
Two years later, he once again found himself in the national side, this time touring Australia for another edition of the Under-19 World Cup.

Making his One Day International (ODI) debut against Zimbabwe in December 2014, Soumya quickly proved his worth with his aggressive batting style.
His Test debut followed shortly in April the following year, against Pakistan, where he showcased his potential by scoring 33 runs in both innings.
However, it was in a Test match against New Zealand in Hamilton that he truly made his mark, scoring a magnificent century of 149 runs.
During this innings, he partnered with Mahmudullah to build a remarkable 235-run partnership, helping Bangladesh salvage some pride after New Zealand posted a mammoth total of 715.

In ODIs, Soumya played a pivotal role in Bangladesh's historic run in 2015, where they clinched consecutive series victories against Pakistan, India, and South Africa.
Throughout this golden period, Soumya displayed his batting prowess by scoring a century and three fifties, two of which were substantial contributions.
His consistency with the bat was once again evident when he played a vital role in Bangladesh's triumph in a tri-series against West Indies and Ireland in Malahide.
Soumya's three consecutive fifties in the tournament significantly contributed to Bangladesh lifting the trophy.

Throughout his career, Soumya has demonstrated his ability to adapt and perform in various formats of the game.
His batting style is known for its aggression and ability to dominate the opposition bowlers.
With his elegant stroke play and powerful hits, he has become a fan favorite in Bangladesh and has carved a name for himself in international cricket.

Soumya Sarkar's journey as a cricketer has been full of accolades and memorable performances.
He continues to be a vital cog in Bangladesh's cricket squad, possessing the skills to turn matches around single-handedly.
As he aims to achieve more milestones in his career, cricket enthusiasts from all over the world eagerly await the next chapter in Soumya's remarkable journey.
