Ryan Ponsonby Burl is a talented cricketer from Zimbabwe who has made a name for himself in the international cricket scene.
Born on September 27, 1993, Burl developed a passion for sports at a young age, particularly excelling in squash during his school years.
However, it was his love for the camaraderie and team spirit in cricket that led him to pursue a career in the sport.

Burl received his education at Peterhouse Boys School, located outside of Harare.
The prestigious school has produced several notable sports personalities, including England cricketers Gary Ballance, Sam Curran, and Tom Curran, Italian rugby star Sebastian Negri, and Olympic rower Peter Purcell-Gilpin.
Inspired by the success of these alumni, Burl set his sights on representing his country at the highest level.

He made his debut for the Zimbabwe Under-17 and Under-19 teams within a month of each other during the 2010-2011 season.
His impressive performances caught the attention of selectors, and he soon made his first-class debut for Mashonaland Eagles in 2014.
In just his second match in the Logan Cup that season, Burl displayed his batting prowess by scoring 92 and 66.

Burl's consistent performances in domestic cricket led to his ODI debut for Zimbabwe against Afghanistan's senior side in February 2017.
Earlier that year, he had impressed with a century and two fifties against Afghanistan A, paving the way for his international call-up.
Later in 2017, Burl donned the national Test cap for the first time in a match against South Africa.

In 2018, Burl demonstrated his exceptional batting prowess once again when he scored a memorable century and a couple of fifties against Mashonaland Eagles in the Logan Cup.
This remarkable run of form saw him produce six scores of over 50 in just five games, including two hundreds.

The following year, Burl's form reached new heights in white-ball cricket.
He played a crucial role in Zimbabwe's T20I series victory against Bangladesh in 2022, smashing a quickfire 54 off just 28 balls.
Impressed by his all-round skills, Burl was entrusted with the ball and excelled as a part-time leg spinner, contributing to Zimbabwe's first-ever win in Australia by taking 5 for 10 in three overs during an ODI in Townsville.

Throughout his career, Burl has proven to be a valuable asset to the Zimbabwean cricket team.
His ability to contribute with both bat and ball has made him a versatile player, capable of impacting games in various ways.
As a left-hand lower-middle-order batsman and a part-time spinner, he brings a balance to the team and provides much-needed depth in all formats of the game.

Ryan Ponsonby Burl's journey in cricket has been marked by determination, hard work, and consistent performances.
He continues to evolve as a player and is a key figure in Zimbabwe's quest for success on the international stage.
With his talent and passion, Burl is poised to achieve even greater heights in the years to come.
