Jamie Overton is a talented cricket player from England who has made a name for himself with his unusual pace and height.
Standing at an impressive 6 feet 5 inches tall, Overton caught the attention of England's selectors at a young age.
In 2013, at the age of just 19 and with only 13 List A games under his belt, he was called into the England squad for the ODI series against Australia.

Born just three minutes before his twin brother, Craig, Jamie had to wait until 2022 to earn his international honours.
He was selected for the third Test against New Zealand at Headingley, where he impressed with both his bowling and batting skills.
He took his maiden Test wicket by dismissing Devon Conway, an emerging New Zealand player, and followed it up with another wicket in the second innings.
However, it was his batting performance that stole the headlines as he scored a composed 97 runs from the number 8 position, helping his team out of a difficult situation.

After representing Somerset for many years, Overton made the move to Surrey in 2020.
In his first season with Surrey, he showcased his all-round abilities by taking 34 wickets in ten matches and scoring 355 runs.
His impressive performances played a key role in Surrey's success, and without him, winning the Championship title would have been much tougher.

Unfortunately, injuries have been a recurring setback in Overton's career.
In 2023, he suffered a stress fracture of the back while playing in the ILT20 for Gulf Giants, which ruled him out for the entire summer.
This was not the first time injuries hindered his progress, but despite these setbacks, Overton remains determined to succeed.

Overton first caught the attention of England's selectors in 2013 when he represented Somerset against the touring Australians.
His impressive performance in that match, where he took six wickets, earned him praise from former England captain Mike Atherton, who suggested he could be a potential candidate for the Ashes tour.
However, a knee injury forced him to pull out of the Lions tour of Sri Lanka that winter.

Both Overton brothers, Jamie and Craig, progressed through the Devon ranks and have been playing cricket together since their early teens.
They were both called up to England's one-day squad as injury replacements in 2015, fueling hopes that they could become the first twins to represent England in an international match.

Known for his belligerent batting style, Overton has shown his capabilities with the bat on several occasions.
He has had entertaining partnerships with his brother, including a stand of 69 runs in 57 balls for the 10th wicket against Warwickshire in 2014.
He also scored a half-century in just 18 balls against Yorkshire at Taunton, setting a record for the fastest Championship half-century by a No.
11 batsman.

Despite the setbacks, Overton's talent and potential have not gone unnoticed.
He has been part of England's Performance Programme and has been praised as one of England's hottest properties.
With both Overton brothers on the pace bowling contracts list, the dream of seeing them play alongside each other in an international XI is still alive.

Jamie Overton's cricket career has been marked by his impressive pace, towering height, and all-round abilities.
Despite the challenges caused by injuries, he continues to work hard and strive for success on the international stage.
