Neil Wagner, an indefatigable left-arm seamer, has made a name for himself as a persistent and determined cricketer.
Born in South Africa, Wagner has represented both New Zealand and played county cricket in England, showcasing his talent as a swing bowler with an unwavering attitude.

Having had to wait out a four-year stand down period to qualify for New Zealand, Wagner faced challenges in earning a regular spot in the national team during the early stages of his international career.
However, it was his exceptional performance in a Test match against India in February 2014 that demanded his selection on a more consistent basis.
With a match haul of 8 for 126, Wagner played a crucial role in New Zealand's 40-run victory.

Wagner's determination and resilience were perhaps best demonstrated during a Test match against Australia in 2016.
Despite suffering a broken bowling knuckle on his ring finger while attempting a catch, Wagner battled through the pain and emerged with career-best figures of 6 for 106 in Australia's first innings and seven wickets in the match.
He finished the year as New Zealand's most successful Test bowler statistically, taking 32 wickets at an average of 21 from seven matches.

Before making his mark in international cricket, Wagner honed his skills at Afrikaans High School for Boys in Pretoria, South Africa.
He made an impressive debut in first-class cricket in the 2005-06 season for Northerns, where he showcased his abilities with two four-wicket hauls.
Wagner then had the opportunity to tour Zimbabwe and Bangladesh with the National Academy side in 2006-07 and even fielded as the twelfth man in two Tests in Centurion.
However, due to the quota system, Wagner had to explore other options.

During his time in England, Wagner nearly secured a contract with Sussex but ultimately decided to try his luck in New Zealand, encouraged by positive feedback from Canterbury players.
This move proved to be a wise one, as he enjoyed a successful debut season for Otago, claiming 21 wickets.
He followed it up with an even more impressive 2010-11 campaign, finishing as the leading wicket-taker in the Plunket Shield.
Wagner continued his dominant form in the following season, again topping the charts with 46 wickets at an average of 26.32.

Wagner has also had the opportunity to play county cricket in England, representing Northamptonshire and Lancashire.
These experiences have contributed to his growth as a cricketer and have allowed him to refine his skills in different conditions.

Neil Wagner's relentless approach to the game, combined with his ability to swing the ball, has made him one of New Zealand's most reliable Test match bowlers.
