Sai Sudharsan Reclaims IPL 2025 Orange Cap

In a closely contested race for the IPL 2025 Orange Cap, B Sai Sudharsan of the Gujarat Titans has reclaimed the top position. During the clash between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans, Sudharsan’s mid-game innings of 39 from 30 balls was sufficient to bump him back to the summit, surpassing Virat Kohli’s run tally. Sudharsan now leads with 456 runs from nine innings, narrowly ahead of Kohli’s 443 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 427.

The Orange Cap race has been dynamic this season, with multiple changes at the top. As Sudharsan edged ahead, Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore had just overtaken Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav a day before. Although this wasn’t Sudharsan’s finest performance of the tournament, his efforts have secured a 13-run and 29-run lead over Kohli and Suryakumar, respectively.

Other notable performances in the match included Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal and Gujarat Titans’ Jos Buttler, who are prominent in the top five run-scorers. Jaiswal, with 70 not out from 40 balls, stands fourth with 426 runs, while Buttler sits at fifth having notched up 50 runs off 26 balls, bringing his total to 406. “It’s been a tough race, but great to see such competition,” said Jaiswal post-match.

Over to the Purple Cap chart, where bowlers compete. Prasidh Krishna from Rajasthan Royals took a vital wicket against the backdrop of heavy scoring. This wicket brought him to a total of 17 wickets, just one shy of RCB’s Josh Hazlewood. Meanwhile, CSK’s Noor Ahmad holds third with 14 wickets, followed by the trio of Harshal Patel, Krunal Pandya, and Trent Boult, each with 13 wickets.

Reflecting on the match, bowlers had a tough day with over 400 runs scored in Jaipur. Still, as IPL progresses, players vie for supremacy in multiple categories, be it highest batting strike rates or best bowling economy rates.

As the tournament rolls on, and the stats shift continually, interest in who will ultimately lead the charts remains high among fans and experts alike. Even amidst such competition, strategic plays and glossy performances continue to steal the show.
