Movement in IPL 2025’s Purple and Orange Cap Ranks

The recent IPL clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Chennai has seen some notable changes in the bowling charts. Both Noor Ahmad of CSK and Harshal Patel from SRH climbed the Purple Cap leaderboard with noteworthy performances.

### Current Standings on the Purple Cap Table

Prasidh Krishna from Gujarat Titans remains at the top, holding 16 wickets from eight matches. He shares the same number of wickets as RCB’s Josh Hazlewood, who recently claimed 4 for 33 against Rajasthan Royals. Hazlewood trails in second due to a higher economy rate.

Noor Ahmad re-entered the top three with his 2 for 42 against SRH, bringing his total to 14 wickets. Despite a brief period where he slipped from the lead, he’s back in contention. Following closely is Harshal Patel, who boasts 13 wickets, impressively achieving 4 for 20 against CSK, notably dismissing Dewald Brevis and MS Dhoni.

After these top performers, there’s a cluster of seven bowlers, each with 12 wickets. This group includes R Sai Kishore of Gujarat Titans, Kuldeep Yadav from Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians’ Hardik Pandya, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Krunal Pandya, GT’s Mohammed Siraj, Khaleel Ahmed from CSK, and Shardul Thakur of LSG.

### Updates on the Orange Cap Table

B Sai Sudharsan retains the Orange Cap, amassing 417 runs across eight matches, with an average of 52.12 and a strike rate of 152.18. Virat Kohli has moved into the second spot following his 70-run innings from 42 balls for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Rajasthan Royals, accumulating 392 runs from nine innings.

Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants started strong, leading from Game No. 7 to Game No. 39, but has dropped to third with 377 runs due to recent low scores. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav from Mumbai Indians has been consistent, standing fourth with 373 runs, maintaining notable scores throughout the season.

On the heels of Suryakumar are Jos Buttler from GT and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the latter having rebounded from a slow start to now sit on 356 runs, matching Buttler, who has played one fewer innings.
