Sudharsan and Krishna Lead as IPL 2025 Enters Final Stages

Gujarat Titans (GT) are sitting comfortably at second place in the IPL 2025 points table, poised for a strong finish. Their players are shining individually as well, with Sai Sudharsan and Prasidh Krishna topping the Orange and Purple Cap standings, respectively, following a recent victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

In the race for the Orange Cap, Sai Sudharsan has emerged as a key figure. Despite a brief setback earlier in the week, Sudharsan reclaimed his lead by scoring 48 off 23 balls against SRH, becoming the first batsman to surpass 500 runs this season, currently sitting at 504 runs. Virat Kohli from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Suryakumar Yadav from Mumbai Indians (MI) are close contenders, each vying for the top spot. Kohli, who is currently fifth and 61 runs behind Sudharsan, has been in impressive form with scores of 73*, 70, and 51 in his last three matches. His upcoming match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the first team out of the playoff race, could see him catch up—weather permitting.

Joining the fray are Suryakumar with 475 runs, GT captain Shubman Gill with 465, and Jos Buttler at 470. Nicholas Pooran’s recent slump has seen him fall to seventh, while Yashasvi Jaiswal of Rajasthan Royals (RR) holds the sixth position.

As for the Purple Cap, Prasidh Krishna’s consistent performance was highlighted with a 2 for 19 spell against SRH, bringing his total wickets this season to 19. However, he faces competition from Josh Hazlewood, just a wicket behind as he takes the field next. Following them are MI’s Trent Boult with 16 wickets, CSK’s Noor Ahmad with 15, and a trio including CSK’s Khaleel Ahmed, GT’s Mohammed Siraj, and DC’s Mitchell Starc, all with 14 wickets each.

Analysts Aakash Chopra and Danny Morrison have praised Krishna’s consistent performance, comparing him to the likes of Josh Hazlewood, citing his disciplined bowling approach.

As the tournament progresses, these individual battles add to the excitement. The ESPNcricinfo MVP table and other statistics, such as strike rates and economy rates, continue to provide interesting insights into the players’ performances this season.
