Zimbabwe’s women will visit Pakistan for the first time later this month, confirming a six-match white-ball schedule in Karachi from 29 April to 15 May. All fixtures will be staged at the National Bank Stadium.
The trip opens with three ICC Women’s Championship one-day internationals on 3, 6 and 9 May. For Mary-Anne Musonda’s side the games continue a tough introduction to the 2025-29 cycle, having lost their inaugural championship series to New Zealand in March. Pakistan, meanwhile, sit mid-table after a 2-1 reverse against South Africa and will view home conditions as a chance to move up the standings.
Attention then shifts to three Twenty20 internationals on 12, 14 and 15 May – the format in which the two countries have never previously met. Their only senior encounter came at the 2021 World Cup Qualifier in Harare, Pakistan winning that ODI by 114 runs.
Zimbabwe’s form card is undoubtedly rough: six defeats out of six against New Zealand, the margins painful at times, but captain Musonda spoke last week of “banking experience quickly” and trusting younger players to learn on the job. Pakistan coach Mohtashim Rasheed struck a respectful note when announcing the squad on Tuesday, saying, “We’re preparing for a hard series; no side travels without ambition.”
Karachi’s early-summer heat is expected to test conditioning as much as technique, and both medical teams are planning extended drinks breaks. Playing under lights should help the spectacle, though dew could complicate the spinners’ work late in the evening.
Either way the tour offers Zimbabwe precious time in the middle and gives Pakistan meaningful competition at home – a combination both boards have been keen to arrange for several seasons.
