Aman Khan yields record 123 runs in Vijay Hazare defeat

Puducherry captain-all-rounder Aman Khan has set an unwanted benchmark, leaking 123 runs from his ten overs against Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Ahmedabad. No bowler in men’s List-A cricket had previously gone past three figures by such a margin; the earlier mark belonged to Arunachal Pradesh quick Mibom Mosu, who gave away 116 only a fortnight ago.

Jharkhand’s innings was built on Kumar Kushagra’s measured hundred and an aggressive 98 from Anukul Roy, their 368 for 7 proving well beyond Puducherry. Khan persisted through his full quota but finished with an economy rate of 12.30. Two team-mates also completed ten overs, yet none found sustained control on a true pitch. Puducherry were later dismissed for 235 in 41.4 overs, falling 133 short.

The figures underline how rapidly white-ball run-scoring has shifted. Mosu’s record survived mere days, and Khan’s experience shows how brutal the modern one-day game can be when lengths drift. He has played 12 IPL matches to date and was bought by Chennai Super Kings for INR 40 lakh at the 2026 auction after earlier stints with Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. His List-A debut came with Saurashtra in 2021 before a move south-east to Puducherry.

Elsewhere in the same tournament, Mosu’s costly spell coincided with Bihar teenager Vaibhav Suryavanshi becoming, at 14, the youngest centurion in men’s List-A cricket—another reminder of the competition’s knack for mixing raw promise with painful lessons.

For Khan, the numbers will sting, yet they remain one entry in a career still forming. Bowlers have rebounded from chastening days before, and Puducherry will hope their skipper’s next spell is remembered for far kinder reasons.
