Chennai Super Kings have turned to Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha after Ramakrishna Ghosh’s unfortunate foot fracture cut short his debut season. Noronha slots in at his base price of ₹30 lakh and is available immediately.
The 24-year-old arrives in decent touch. Only last month he collected the MA Chidambaram Trophy at the BCCI’s Naman Awards, recognition for topping the 2024-25 Col CK Nayudu Trophy run charts. He also helped Mangaluru Dragons lift the 2025 Maharaja Trophy, where 253 runs and ten useful off-spin wickets underlined his all-round value. A brief Syed Mushtaq Ali stint – 58 runs and a solitary wicket from three outings – kept him on the selectors’ radar.
Ghosh’s injury, sustained against Mumbai Indians on 2 May, left CSK a bowler short; he had returned 1 for 24 in that lone appearance. His exit compounds a lengthening treatment list featuring Ayush Mhatre, Nathan Ellis and Khaleel Ahmed, while MS Dhoni continues to nurse a calf strain.
Even so, CSK sit fifth with 12 points from 11 matches. Friday’s meeting with Lucknow Super Giants now offers Noronha a realistic chance of a first IPL cap – and the franchise a timely injection of energy.
