Gujarat Titans Opt to Chase as Rabada Returns

In a key IPL 2025 clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill won the toss, opting to field first against Delhi Capitals (DC). Kagiso Rabada makes his return for GT after a one-month suspension, stepping in for Gerald Coetzee.

Delhi Capitals have made a couple of changes to their lineup. Mustafizur Rahman, who played for Bangladesh in Sharjah just last night, has been brought in to replace Mitchell Starc. Additionally, Vipraj Nigam joins the squad in place of Madhav Tiwari.

Despite the challenge of starting afresh, GT skipper Gill believes in the advantages gained: “Definitely not easy to start all over again but good rest for our fast bowlers.” DC’s captain, Axar Patel, also had his eyes set on bowling first due to the dew factor, stating, “We are thinking about only this game and not about the qualification.”

The encounter unfolds on a black-soil pitch, featuring a 66-metre square boundary on one side and a 58-metre boundary on the other from the south end, with the straight boundary measuring 71 metres.

Delhi Capitals’ lineup includes Faf du Plessis and KL Rahul alongside promising players like Ashutosh Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav. On the bench, options include the likes of Karun Nair and Sediqullah Atal.

For the Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler open the innings, with strategic depth provided by players such as Rashid Khan and Mohammed Siraj. Their bench strength boasts players like Washington Sundar and B Sai Sudharsan.

This matchup could offer insights into how the teams’ top orders adapt to the conditions and each other’s strategies. As the game progresses, watch for the bowlers’ performances, particularly Rabada’s impact on his return.
