India Under-19 Squad Ready for England Tour

In a significant development for Indian cricket, the country’s Under-19 squad is set to tour England this summer. The team, led by the young and talented Ayush Mhatre, will play a series of matches in various formats from June to July 2025. Mhatre, aged 17, has already made waves with impressive performances for Mumbai in first-class cricket and for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

Joining Mhatre in the squad is 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar, who plays as an opener for Rajasthan Royals. The Indian team will engage in a 50-over warm-up match, a series of five Youth one-day internationals, and two multi-day games against England’s Under-19 team. Abhigyan Kundu, a wicketkeeper from Mumbai, has been appointed as vice-captain.

The squad includes promising talents such as Vihaan Malhotra from Punjab, who has previously opened alongside Suryavanshi. Furthermore, some members have prior India Under-19 exposure, including Harvansh Pangalia, Yudhajit Guha, Mohamed Enaan, and Anmoljeet Singh. Enaan made headlines as the top wicket-taker with 16 scalps in Youth Tests against Australia, while Anmoljeet recorded nine wickets. Notably, Pangalia scored a commendable 117 in the same series.

New to the mix, Khilan Patel earned his spot after being named Player of the Series in the Cooch Behar Trophy, thanks to his dual skills in left-arm spin and batting. The squad rounds off with players like Maulyarajsinh Chavda, Rahul Kumar, RS Ambrish, Kanishk Chouhan, Henil Patel, Pranav Raghavendra, and Aditya Rana. Five standby players, including Naman Pushpak and Alankrith Rapole, are also part of the contingent.

The Junior Cricket Committee, led by Thilak Naidu, has carefully handpicked this lineup. Actions commence on June 24 with a warm-up game at Loughborough University, followed by the series of ODIs at venues such as Hove, Northampton, and Worcester, extending until early July. The two multi-day matches will take place in Beckenham and Chelmsford.

Looking ahead, the squad’s age groups align well for the 2026 Under-19 World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia. This is the team’s third recent engagement following series against Australia Under-19 at home and their runner-up finish at last year’s U-19 Asia Cup.

India U-19 squad: Ayush Mhatre (capt), Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Vihaan Malhotra, Maulyarajsinh Chavda, Rahul Kumar, Abhigyan Kundu (vice-capt, wk), Harvansh Pangalia (wk), RS Ambrish, Kanishk Chouhan, Khilan Patel, Henil Patel, Yudhajit Guha, Pranav Raghavendra, Mohamed Enaan, Aditya Rana, Anmoljeet Singh.
