India’s Bangladesh trip pushed back to September 2026

India’s next white-ball visit to Bangladesh will have to wait an extra year. What was pencilled in for August 2025 has now slid to September 2026 after both boards compared calendars and saw the clash coming.

“This decision has been reached following discussions between the two boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams,” the BCCI said. A short, sharp line, but it covers the essentials: busy diaries and not a lot of wriggle room.

Bangladesh Cricket Board echoed the sentiment. “The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course.”

Only a few days ago BCB president Aminul Islam admitted the schedule was “still up in the air”. Now it’s officially landed – just 13 months later than first advertised.

Back in April the proposed itinerary was straightforward enough: three ODIs on 17, 20 and 23 August, followed by T20Is on 26, 29 and 31 August, split between Mirpur and Chattogram. Those match windows will now be wiped clean.

The knock-on is modest but noteworthy. With no Bangladesh tour in late August 2025, India’s leading players could instead turn out in the Duleep Trophy, the domestic season-opener that often struggles for head-line names. Domestic coaches won’t complain.

Nothing else changes for the moment. The two boards will firm up dates when the next ICC cycle settles, and both sides will hope the extra breathing space avoids another reshuffle.
